The Midtown Hotel 7. Oakwood at The Devonshire. Wyndham Boston Beacon Hill 7. Hi Boston Hostel - Boston - Bedroom. It was running around and chewing on something. My boyfriend didn't hear it initially because he's a heavier sleeper than me.
I thought I was hearing things. After we turned off the lights, I heard it again. This time, he did too. I couldn't sleep after that. I had the lights on for about an hour or so. My boyfriend was tired from a long day so he passed out. I eventually dozed off but not for long as it woke me again around 6am. We finally found what it got into. We had a loaf of bread inside a tied up plastic bag in the room.
It chewed through the bag and ate a big piece of the bread. I told the manager, Supta, about it, but she said they do not have a mouse problem. However, I found a mouse trap under behind the desk with a piece of cheese on it. I guess it was a really smart mouse. She explained the trap is for preventative reasons. She also asked if I turned off or blocked the mouse light it's a night light to scare off the mice??
Nope, it was on the whole night. I suggested that they a post a sign warning guests not to have any food in the room, like they do in hostels, since it sounded like she thought it was our fault for having food in the room. I would have rated this stay as a one star for this reason but our first night stay was not a problem. I suppose if you're a heavy sleeper or don't mind the company of mice, it won't be an issue. Mediocre 2. Cons : Check in was at 3pm and the room wasn't clean until 5 pm!
Pros : The front desk staff was very friendly. Cons : Honestly, this place was disappointing. I had to open the windows to air out the overwhelming perfume smell in my room. It was so strong, I couldn't stop coughing.
Then, I couldn't lock the windows back up when I needed to close them. There was garbage all over the parking lot too. Pros : Nice size room and staff friendly and helpful. Cons : Breakfast was mediocre. Need to get cabs to the city - uber worked well but adds to the cost. Pros : Surprisingly large room and well maintained. Cons : Would have given five stars but we found a cockroach Excellent Pros : Staff was friendly and helpful.
Large rooms. Safe neighborhood. Easy to get around and convenient. Cheapest rate I could find in the area. Pleased all around. Cons : Used to be a Days Inn so could use some updating, but for the rate, a great find.
